   General Notes:

The three brothers, David, James and George settled first along the South Carolina Coast. No record of David's sojourn can be found for the years 1770-1772 except that he returned to Ireland to convince his wife, Mary McCombs, from Ireland, of the opportunities in this newly formed nation, and became the first settler and landowner of Honea Path area in 1791.

   Events:

1. Land Grant; 10 Oct 1770; McGill's Creek. On October 10, 177, a grant was issued by George the Third of England stating "George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France, and so forth, to tell to whom these presents shall come Greeting: Know Ye that we of our special Grace, certain knowledge and mere motion, have given and granted, and by these presents, for us, our heirs and successours, do give and grant unto David Greer his heirs and assign, a plantation or tract of land containing one hudred acres situated on McGill's Creek, one of the branches of the North West Fork of Long Cane bounding all sides on Vacant land."
